Regulations

The Windjammer is owned and operated by CPYC solely for the purpose of transporting club members and their guests to and from the main float and vessels registered with the club, moored in the easterly and westerly mooring areas. The vessel and operators are licensed by the U. S. Coast Guard specifically and solely for this purpose. As a result of this licensing the vessel has a specific navigational area that operators must respect. Club members and their guests are expected to conduct themselves appropriately showing the upmost courtesy and respect to others and the operators while engaged with the service provided by the Windjammer.

The following is an outline of the general operating parameters of the Windjammer, intended as broad and general and not exhaustive or complete:

  • While aboard the vessel please understand that the vessel’s operator is the captain of the vessel and shall be accorded the respect of all maritime captains. As such please follow all directions and understand that the captain’s word is final.
  • The Windjammer is not equipped, licensed or insured as a tow vessel. Please do not request towing services.
  • Please report any instances or concerns regarding the Windjammer to bosun@cpyc.org. This email address is monitored by the CPYC Bosun and the CPYC Board of Directors liaison.
  • All vessels receiving service by the Windjammer must be registered CPYC vessels, or be registered guests using a CPYC guest mooring. CPYC registered vessels must have a valid sticker affixed and visible at the rear of the vessel on the starboard side. Vessels without stickers will receive one warning after which they will not be serviced.
  • The Windjammer operators will suspend service when the weather makes service dangerous or inappropriate, and may do so without notice.
  • Windjammer’s hours of operation are posted on the calendar shown on this web page, please do not email the Bosun to inquire as to the hours of operation.

You can get in touch with the Bosun by emailing bosun@cpyc.org
