Fleet Qualifying races
will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 (RRS) and the Rules of the International Star Class Yacht Racing Association except as any of these are modified by the Sailing Instructions,
the Race Committee (RC) and the Jury. The Organizing Authority is Cottage Park Yacht Club.
This is an eleven race series. A minimum of five races must be completed for this to count as a series.
4.1 The low point scoring system shall be used.
4.2 DNS shall be equal to the total number of Boston Harbor Star Fleet boats entered in the series + 1 (RRS A4.2).
4.3 If a boat is raced by a skipper who is not a registered BH Boat Owner, their scores shall not be counted for fleet qualification series, and other finishers' positions shall be adjusted accordingly for this Fleet Qualification Series.

5.2 June 2 & 3 Harbor Start will be at 10:30 am. Warning Signal will be at 12:00am.
5.3 Other Harbor Starts will be at 10:00 am. Warning Signal will be at 11:00am.
5.4 In the unlikely event that we may not complete five races that constitute a series, the RC shall add the following makeup days:
If we have not completed 3 races by July 1, there shall be 2 races on July 1.
If we have not completed 5 races by July 8, there shall be 2 races on July 8.
If we have not completed 5 races by July 21, there shall be 2 races on July 21.
5.5 In case of a discrepancy, the schedule in these sailing instructions (and future revisions thereof) take precedence over any other posted schedule.
6. Racing Area
Racing Area will either be inside Boston Harbor, or outside Boston Harbor on Broad Sound and Massachusetts Bay. Instructions will be given orally by the RC before the Harbor Start.
7. Courses & Marks
The RC will attempt to give us a fair racecourse whose length and configuration may comply with STCR 34.3
Courses will be posted on the RC boat prior to racing. RC may hail other appropriate instructions before the start of a race.
If we are racing inside Boston Harbor, marks will be government marks, or other marks specified on the available course chart. If we race outside Boston Harbor (Broad Sound, or Massachusetts Bay), racing marks will be drop marks provided by the RC. Marks are to be rounded to PORT unless otherwise specified by the RC.
8. Start
Races shall be started in accordance with RRS 26. If multiple classes are starting on the same line, starting order will be posted on the RC. Starting order may also be hailed.
9. Changes
Changes to these sailing instructions may be given orally by the RC. Changes may also be included in a revised version of these sailing instructions.
10. Starting Line
The starting line will be between the staff from which an orange flag is displayed on the RC signal boat and a designated nearby mark.
11. Finishing
The finish line will be between the staff from which an orange flag is displayed on the RC signal boat and a designated nearby mark.
12. Time Limit
The time limit for a race will be 2 1/2 hours. Boats not finishing within that time will receive a score of DNF. Boats not finishing within 60 minutes of the first boat will also receive a score of DNF.
13. Protests
As soon as reasonably possible after finishing, a protesting boat shall inform the RC the sail number of the boat she intends to protest. Protests must be delivered to the RC within one hour of the RC signal boat docking time.
14. Prizes
14.1 The winner of this Fleet Qualification Series will have their names engraved on the Boston Harbor Fleet Championship Trophy. At least the top three places will be awarded trophies.
14.2 Entries to 2007 and 2008 Star World
Championships will be determined as per STCR 29.
