Annual Pre-Freeze Regatta

Second annual Pre-Freeze Regatta and BBQ.  It was fun last year, with over 25 boats, good sailing, and good food. It'll be fun this year, too.  Open to any and all Lasers, Laser Radials, Interclubs, and Rhodes 19s. Need not be a member of CPYC or of the frostbite fleet to enter. Details here.

Last year's standings

Last season's winners were Tomas Hornos in first with 49 points, Dave Bryan in second with 67 points, and Jason Yarrington in 3rd with 74 points.  Kay Van Valkenburgh took fourth with 78 points, and Jim Da Silva fifth with 79 points.  Details on the scores page.

Welcome Laser Sailors!

CPYC is an active sailing club in the summer and the winter. In the summer we race Thistles, Stars, Rhodes 19, and PHRF boats. Our youth program races Lasers and N-10s. In the winter, we race Lasers, Interclubs and Rhodes 19's.

The club is a committed and long-time supporter of racing and hosts many regattas. It is a welcoming, convenient, and exciting place to sail.

Regular racing every Sunday. First gun at 1:00 PM

It's easy to come race with us -- just show up on a race day, make yourself known, and we'll help you unload and launch your boat and sign you up on the spot. You can register for a day or for the season. Read our Frequently Asked Questions for more detail, or talk to us.

See you on the water!

We're looking for more volunteers

Okay, so we aren't yacht club flag officers with titles and blue blazers, but there are a group of us who informally run the Laser fleet, and we're looking to expand our ranks.  This is your chance to contribute a little to our sport (really, the work isn't all that much) and to have a say in how things are run.  If you are a regular, consider volunteering for a fleet management gig.  Tasks needed include scoring, maintaining the website, keeping our roster, and coordinating RC assignments.

Get in touch with any of us listed on the people page if you are interested.

  1. Show up.  Bring your best game and your best attitude
  2. Register and pay.
  3. Volunteer for RC duty at least once.  RC is actually pretty easy.   You need to bring food for half the post-race crowd (because there are two RC volunteers each week), show up a little early,  get the Whalers prepared and launched,  and then help by driving a Whaler or working at the hut.   Show up with your gear,  because if there are enough volunteers, you might get to go racing anyhow.

Spread the word

Please help us grow our fleet by spreading the word and inviting your friends to come sail with us.
